Goat Funded Trader vs FundingPips

Instant funding, or a cheap evaluation without a consistency rule?

Goat Funded lets you skip the evaluation entirely. The cost is a 15% consistency rule on its Instant account, which in practice needs about seven evenly sized winning days before a payout clears - often slower to first cash than passing a FundingPips 2 Step Standard paid on the weekly or bi-weekly cycle, which carries no consistency rule.

News trading

Goat Funded
RestrictedNews trading is allowed in both the challenge and funded phases, but a trade opened or closed within 5 minutes of a high-impact release can keep at most 1% of the initial balance in profit. The excess is removed without breaching the account.
FundingPips
RestrictedTrades may be held through news. On Master accounts, profit from trades opened or closed within 5 minutes before or after a restricted release, or from 5 minutes before a restricted speech until 5 minutes after it ends, can be deducted, unless the trade was opened at least 5 hours earlier. Deliberately trading news is prohibited, and FundingPips Zero bans opening, closing or holding trades around restricted news.

EAs and algos

Goat Funded
AllowedEAs are allowed if they respect the prohibited-practices rules. High-frequency and gold-arbitrage EAs are banned, and on One Step, Two Step, Instant Premium and Pay Later accounts bought from 12 August 2026 a VPS is prohibited, which rules out EAs that need one.
FundingPips
RestrictedThird-party EAs may be used only as trade or risk managers. An EA you built yourself may trade fully automated if you can prove ownership, for example with its source code.

Copy trading

Goat Funded
RestrictedSignal services and copying from other traders are prohibited. Between your own accounts, copying from one evaluation account to another or into a funded account is not allowed, but copying between funded accounts is.
FundingPips
RestrictedCopying between your own FundingPips accounts, or from a FundingPips account out to your own external account, is allowed. Copying into a FundingPips account from signals or other traders, copying between different users, and third-party account management are prohibited.

Weekend holding

Goat Funded
AllowedTrades may be held over the weekend.
FundingPips
RestrictedWeekend holds are allowed in the evaluation on the 1 Step Flex, 2 Step Standard, 2 Step Flex and 2 Step Pro. On their Master accounts, open trades are closed automatically unless the Swing add-on was bought at purchase. FundingPips Zero does not allow weekend holds at all.

Overnight holding

Goat Funded
AllowedTrades may be held overnight.
FundingPips
RestrictedOvernight holds are allowed in the evaluation. On 1 Step Flex, 2 Step Standard, 2 Step Flex and 2 Step Pro Master accounts, the system closes every open trade each day (20:45 to 21:00 UTC in summer, 21:45 to 22:00 UTC in winter) unless the Swing add-on was bought at purchase. A separate swap-free add-on is sold for holding overnight without swap charges.

Hedging

Goat Funded
Not allowedHedging is strictly prohibited, including opposite positions within the same account, across your own accounts, and between a GFT account and another firm's.
FundingPips
Not allowedHedging is on FundingPips' list of forbidden strategies, along with opposite-account trading, and leads to account termination.

Beyond the numbers

Which one should you buy?

Our assessment of each, labelled as opinion. If the two lists below point at different firms, the honest answer is that you should buy the one whose rules your strategy needs.

Goat Funded Trader

Goat Funded's Instant account skips the evaluation, which is worth something to a trader who does not want one. Two cautions. The 15% consistency rule on Instant is severe - it effectively requires seven roughly equal winning days before a payout clears. And the rules moved several times during 2026, so anything you read about this firm, here included, needs re-checking at checkout.

Suitable for

  • Traders who want to skip the evaluation entirely
  • Traders with steady, evenly distributed daily results
  • Price-sensitive traders testing a strategy

Less suitable if

  • Your results are lumpy - a few big days carrying the month
  • You need rule stability over a long funded run

FundingPips

FundingPips suits traders who want no consistency rule on the standard programs. The lineup is genuinely varied rather than cosmetically different, which is a real advantage - and a real risk if you buy the wrong one. FundingPips has operated since 2023, giving it a shorter track record than FTMO.

Suitable for

  • Traders who want no consistency rule on a mainstream firm
  • Traders running an EA they built themselves
  • Traders who want to choose their own risk shape

Less suitable if

  • You want one simple rule set with no program selection
  • You weight a long operating record heavily

Goat Funded vs FundingPips questions

Is Goat Funded Trader or FundingPips cheaper?

FundingPips has the lower published entry ticket at $29 against $36. Read that against the account size it buys and the $100K row in the matrix above rather than the ticket alone - the cheaper entry ticket often buys a much smaller account.

Which has the better drawdown rules, Goat Funded or FundingPips?

Goat Funded Trader allows 10% total loss on a static basis with a 4% daily limit. FundingPips allows 12% on a static basis with a 3% daily limit.

Which pays a higher profit split?

FundingPips pays more, up to 95% against 80%. Check whether the headline figure is included or a paid upgrade - the matrix above flags which.

Which allows news trading?

Goat Funded Trader: News trading is allowed in both the challenge and funded phases, but a trade opened or closed within 5 minutes of a high-impact release can keep at most 1% of the initial balance in profit. The excess is removed without breaching the account. FundingPips: Trades may be held through news.

Can I trade both firms at once?

Yes, and traders often do to diversify rule risk. The one thing to avoid is running correlated or hedged positions across accounts at different firms - most terms prohibit coordinated hedging, and it is detectable.
