News trading rules at prop firms
The short answer
News trading restrictions come in three forms: a blackout that breaches your account, an execution window that blocks entries around releases, and profit discounting that counts only part of what you made. Only the firms with none of the three genuinely allow news trading.

Why the restriction exists
A prop firm's evaluation runs on a simulated feed. During a high-impact release, that feed can fill at prices a real liquidity provider would reject. The restriction is the firm managing a hedging cost, not a judgement about your strategy.
The three forms
An outright blackout means holding or opening a position inside a stated window - usually two to five minutes either side of a listed release - breaches the account. This is the version that ends challenges.
An execution window blocks new entries but does not punish an existing position. Milder, and usually applied only to funded accounts.
Profit discounting allows the trade and then counts a reduced share of the resulting profit. FundedNext counts 40% of profit made in the five minutes either side of a listed high-impact release on its CFD funded accounts. Your account is safe; your P&L is not what your platform says.
Firms that permit it outright
Some of the firms we track permit news trading with no release-window blackout, including most of the futures firms. The generated list stays current from the database.

Can I trade NFP at a prop firm?
At firms with no blackout, yes. At firms with one, opening or holding a position inside the window can breach the account outright, so this is worth confirming in writing before you buy.
Do futures prop firms restrict news trading?
Most of the futures firms we track do not, but MyFundedFutures does: no positions or orders may be open from 2 minutes before to 2 minutes after a data release, and trading Tier 1 releases is banned outright on its Rapid and Pro sim-funded accounts. Topstep has no blackout, but deliberately trading your full maximum position size into a scheduled major news event is a prohibited strategy there.
